9 Link Building Tactics That You Need To Avoid In 2018

When you have a website, the most important thing that will take the site to new heights is the link building part. The field of link building is vast and ever-evolving and naturally hard to master. On the internet, you’d find tons of listicles and articles from experts telling you how to do effective link building, but in this post, we’ll be discussing what all are the things that you need to avoid.

This list is specifically aimed towards the things that you need to avoid for the year 2018 in the field of link building.

Link Building Tactics That You Need To Avoid In 2018

1.Buying Links

That is the first things that you need to give up if you are practicing it. Search engines like Google are completely against buying link, and they usually recommend people to ear links by writing good, unique content. Concentrate on the content.

2.Press Releases

Relying on press releases are a bad idea too and should be avoided at all cost. But just to be clear, when you do require press releases, when the post is newsworthy, go for it. The primary purpose of press releases should not to built links.

3.Low-Quality Links

Getting tons of low-quality links will send signals to search engines like Google that the website itself provides low-quality content and perhaps caters too low-quality audience. There is absolutely no reason for Google to rank you and this certainly is a huge loss for your site.

4.PBNs

PBNs (Private Blog Networks) is a sure shot way to ranking a site and ranking them fast, but the heydays of PBNs are over. This is because PBNs are largely created for the purpose of building links and anything of the sort is a strict no-no for search engines because you are not recommended to build links but earn them.

5.Anchor Texts

Google is evolving every year and becoming better at spotting a link that has been built instead of naturally earning them. Keywords rich anchor texts used for the purpose of link building is deemed as unnatural by Google.

6.Out-of-Context Links

You think linking to your posts on an unrelated post of anchor text will get you ranked? Think again. These low-quality links are not going to get you anywhere. They’ll pull your website down instead of ranking it.

7.Link Exchanges

Exchanging links with other websites are useless because they are often out of context, and like we mentioned above out-of-context link does not benefit your site, in fact, it harms it. Therefore avoid it at all cost.

8.Blog Commenting and Forum Commenting

Another very popular way of building links but an outdated one. Most of the time comments on blogs and forum are irrelevant and therefore for the most part useful and even harmful. But of course, if its a relevant blog of room, go for it. Not for the purpose of creating links but for making meaning comments.

9.Too Many Links

Building links are not a good idea; one must try to earn links that are legit. One always wants to build links fast, get the website to the top of the game fast but getting too many links within the span of a short time will surely kill your website.
